A pumpkin with three clear sections still fits on a small grid. An illuminated haunted house with windows, mist and bats requires much more space. For a diamond painting Halloween pattern, therefore, you first choose how much work you want to create, and only then the picture.
Halloween falls this year on Saturday, October 31. Below is a custom pumpkin pattern of 32 × 32 squares: 1,024 drills if you also fill the background. With 2.5 mm square drills, it becomes 8 × 8 cm. The free worksheet contains the count and a separate size test.
Diamond painting Halloween: a small pumpkin pattern
The example uses an orange pumpkin, dark eyes and mouth, a green stem and a light background. Those are four colors with different tasks. The stem must remain separate from the background; the mouth must also be recognizable without color nuances.

The count below comes straight from the grid. The pattern has been digitally checked, not physically laid or speed-tested. The colors are color roles, no guarantee that a certain bag of drills corresponds exactly to your screen.
| Symbol | Color role | Count |
|---|---|---|
| O | Orange pumpkin | 360 |
| X | Dark eyes and mouth | 102 |
| S | Green stem | 20 |
| . | Light background | 542 |
| Total | 1,024 | |
Do you only want to lay the pumpkin? Then 482 colored squares remain. Choose a base whose visible background matches the design. Do not leave a sticky, uncovered layer of adhesive where no drills will go.
Do not buy a large canvas for a single evening
A fully filled 20 × 20 cm square contains 6,400 positions at the same drill size. That is well over six times the number of this worksheet. Small in the product photo says little about how many drills you need to lay.
Even a simple design can go slowly if you constantly change colors. Lay a small test area first and measure your own pace. Then calculate with your available evenings, including time for layout, cleaning up and finishing. A universal promise like "ready in two hours" does not help you here.
For larger ideas, calculate the number with diamond painting size calculator. Check whether the specified store size covers the image area or also includes the white canvas border.
Print paper is not yet an adhesive canvas
- Open the PDF. Page 1 is an enlarged grid pattern; do not place your drills directly on it.
- Print page 2 at 100% or "actual size". Turn off "fit to page".
- Measure the check line with a ruler. It should be 50 mm. The colored square should be 80 mm wide and high.
- Use a matching blank grid with adhesive layer, or a suitable base and glue according to the manufacturer's instructions. Paper, drills and glue are not included with the download.
- Compare a few real drills side by side first. Only start the full pattern when size and contrast are correct.
Do you have leftover drills? Compare your bags with the DMC color chart for diamond painting, but evaluate the final combination in daylight. Screen colors and shiny drills are not identical materials.
A dark Halloween image can lose its shape
A black cat against an almost black sky looks atmospheric on your phone. After resizing, ears and back may merge. Make the outline recognizable with a lighter background or choose a crop where the subject is larger.
With the diamond painting converter you can preview a custom image in advance. If you want to adjust color areas afterward, you can make your own diamond painting pattern in the Studio. Editing and the preview are free; the personal PDF from the Studio is paid. The fixed pumpkin worksheet above is free, however.
Use a custom drawing or an image for which you have permission. Our example is deliberately simple. Anyone who derives pleasure from many small details and color changes will find less challenge in such a small motif. Choose a larger project instead without Halloween's end date as a hard promise.
Lay ten drills next to your ruler first
Ten square drills of 2.5 mm cover 25 mm together. Try that with your material and check the printed grid. That small size test is more useful than preparing a whole canvas right now.
For October 31, what counts is whether your base, drills and available time match. Saving the pattern for next year is also fine; this design is not tied to a year.
